Welsh rugby team in GOOD PERFORMANCE SHOCK!
Melbourne 12th October 2003.
Wales today astonished the rugby world by winning a game. The defeat of Canada at the Telstra Dome marked the team’s first test win since 1971.
Commenting on the win, BBC pundit Jonathan “Now, way-did-e get that ridiculooos accent?” Davies said: “Clearly, we’re delighted to have beaten opposition of this quality”, presumably referring to the Canadians’ ranking of 104th in the world. Asked to rate the scale of the achievement, he added: “Well, our boys did manage to annoy the Canadians and that’s not an easy thing to do.”
Canadian PM, Jean Cretin, commiserated with the spirited losing team - most of whom play their rugby with the Sasketoon Under 12s - by saying: “How aboot that, eh? The rules really are very different from ice hockey. Sometimes I think we Canadians are too aggressive for field sports, eh?”
Wales’ next game is against group minnows Pitcairn B, followed by a date with Inter-Galactic Champions New Zealand.
